Two drivers were detected in the early hours of Sunday in Larnaca and Nicosia driving with alcohol levels of 131μg and 79μg respectively.
Specifically, during traffic checks, police members stopped a car for inspection on Anexartisias Avenue in Alethriko. The 45-year-old driver underwent a breathalyser test, which recorded a final reading of 131μg, compared with the legal limit of 22μg.
In Nicosia, police members stopped a car for inspection on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue in Nicosia. It was being driven by a 24-year-old. The final breathalyser reading was 79μg, compared with the legal limit of 22μg.
The two drivers were served with a guarantee document requiring them to appear on the morning of October 5 before the Larnaca and Nicosia District Courts for immediate registration of the cases.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old in Nicosia was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample during a breathalyser check. He was subsequently released after being served with a guarantee document requiring him to appear on the morning of October 5 before the Nicosia District Court for immediate registration of the case.
