Rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected across Cyprus over the coming days, while temperatures are forecast to gradually fall from Wednesday, with a further decline expected towards the end of the week.
Speaking to Politis.com.cy, Meteorological Department official Andreas Hadjigeorgiou said the severe weather affecting Greece was not expected to reach Cyprus. However, the island would experience rainfall in several areas, with the possibility of thunderstorms.
Rain is also forecast for Thursday, while further showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected on Friday and Saturday, he said.
Temperatures set to fall from Wednesday
Regarding temperatures, Hadjigeorgiou said a drop of between two and three degrees Celsius was expected from Wednesday, with the downward trend continuing over the following days.
On Friday, temperatures inland are forecast to reach around 22°C, while a further decrease of one to two degrees is expected by Sunday.
Humidity levels will also remain elevated, as the air mass affecting the region contains increased moisture, he explained.
The overall weather pattern for the coming days is therefore expected to feature intermittent rainfall, possible thunderstorms and gradually falling temperatures.

The weather will be mainly fine, although locally increased cloud is expected to develop gradually, bringing isolated showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the mountains.
Winds will be mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at force 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to a little rough.
Temperatures will reach around 25°C inland and along the coast, and 17°C in the higher mountainous areas.
Wednesday
The weather will become temporarily mainly cloudy, with local showers or thunderstorms expected.
Thursday
Locally increased cloud is forecast, which may bring isolated showers or thunderstorms.
Friday
The weather will become cloudy, with local rainfall and isolated thunderstorms expected.
Temperatures will gradually fall slightly, settling somewhat below the seasonal average.
