Encouraging signs are emerging for passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos airports, according to Hermes Airports, as the recovery seen in recent months continued through July despite ongoing challenges affecting the wider region.
According to figures published by Hermes Airports in Flight Mode, the monthly digital update of Cyprus' airports, a total of 1,635,055 passengers travelled through the two airports in July 2026, with traffic down by only 1 per cent compared with July 2025.
Particularly positive was the performance of Paphos Airport, which recorded a 7 per cent increase in passenger traffic compared with the same month last year.
According to Hermes Airports, the increase reflects improved connectivity at the airport and a broader range of travel options available to passengers.
The overall picture for the year has also improved.
For the period January to July 2026, the difference compared with the corresponding period of 2025 has narrowed to -3.7 per cent, strengthening optimism for passenger traffic during the remainder of the year.
According to the latest forecasts, provided geopolitical conditions in the region remain favourable, passenger traffic in 2026 is expected to finish between 3 per cent and 5 per cent lower than in 2025.
Key markets
Hermes Airports also provided data on Cyprus' most important passenger markets for the period January-July 2026.
The leading market was the United Kingdom with 23 per cent of total traffic, followed by:
- Greece: 17%
- Israel: 10%
- Poland: 9%
- Germany: 5%
- Romania: 3%
- Austria: 3%
- Armenia: 3%
- Italy: 2%
- Hungary: 2%
Despite ongoing challenges, Hermes Airports said Cyprus' air connectivity remains strong, with 54 airlines operating flights to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports, linking Cyprus to 165 destinations in 42 countries.
