After days of intense heat, Cyprus is set for a noticeable change in weather conditions this weekend, with lower temperatures, stronger winds and the possibility of isolated showers.
An area of seasonal low pressure continues to affect the region.
Cooler conditions from Saturday
Temperatures are expected to reach around 39°C inland on Friday, 32°C on the west coast, 34°C in other coastal areas and 29°C in the higher mountains.
From Saturday, temperatures will fall and remain at similar levels on Sunday, leaving them slightly below average for the time of year.
Rain possible in mountains and east
Localised cloud cover is expected over the weekend and may produce isolated showers, mainly in mountainous and eastern areas during the afternoon hours.
No widespread rainfall is forecast.
Stronger winds expected
Winds will strengthen on Saturday, particularly in coastal areas, blowing at moderate to strong levels, with stronger gusts possible at times.
Sea conditions are expected to remain slightly rough to rough.
Temperatures to rise again on Monday
Monday's weather is forecast to be mainly fine, with temperatures rising once more to near seasonal averages.
The expected increase could mark the start of another warming trend after the brief weekend respite.
