Cyprus Weather: Temperatures to Reach 39°C on Saturday

Warm conditions will persist through Tuesday, with early-morning fog possible inland and in the southeast.

 

Mostly clear skies are expected across Cyprus on Saturday, August 22, as temperatures remain above seasonal averages. The interior will record the island’s highest temperatures, while western coastal areas will remain considerably cooler.

Saturday’s forecast

Seasonal low pressure is affecting the region.

The weather will be mainly clear. Winds will blow mostly southwesterly to northwesterly, initially at a light 3 Beaufort and gradually strengthening to 3 to 4 Beaufort. They may locally reach 5 Beaufort along the southern coast during the afternoon.

The sea will be up to slight.

Temperatures will rise to around 39°C inland, 31°C on the western coast, 34°C along the remaining coasts and 29°C in the highest mountain areas.

Overnight conditions

The weather will remain mainly clear overnight.

Winds will blow mostly southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, later easing to no more than 3 Beaufort. The sea will become calm to slight.

Temperatures will fall to around 23°C inland and along the coast, and 19°C in the highest mountain areas.

Outlook through Tuesday

Mainly clear conditions are forecast for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Localised mist or fog and low cloud may form inland and in southeastern areas, mainly during the early morning hours on Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly and will remain above the seasonal average.
