People in Cyprus and across Europe are being invited to take their climate action a step further by applying to become a European Climate Pact Ambassador.
The initiative offers individuals the opportunity to strengthen climate action through their own activities, mobilise their communities and share ideas and solutions that can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Applications are already open and will remain so until 31 October 2026.
What is the European Climate Pact?
The European Climate Pact is an open initiative launched by the European Commission as part of the European Green Deal.
Operating across Europe, it aims to help bridge the gap between policy decisions and civil society by giving citizens a voice, practical tools and a meaningful role in climate action.
The Pact encourages people to become actively involved in protecting the environment, while providing a platform for networking and collaboration.
It also seeks to raise awareness and provide the public with information about the climate crisis based on scientific evidence.
At the same time, the initiative creates a shared space where people can exchange knowledge and good practices and develop innovative solutions at local level.
These efforts support the European Union's goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050, with citizens and communities encouraged to turn knowledge and awareness into practical action.
Why become a Climate Pact Ambassador?
Becoming an Ambassador gives participants the opportunity to add their voice to the wider European effort on climate change while making an impact within their own communities.
Ambassadors can:
- inspire and mobilise other people;
- promote meaningful climate initiatives;
- connect with hundreds of people across Europe;
- exchange ideas and good practices;
- and access practical tools and resources to support their own climate activities.
The initiative is based on the principle that meaningful change does not always need to begin with major interventions. Small actions in everyday life can also contribute to a more sustainable future.
Who can apply?
The open call is aimed at people who want to play an active role in climate action and use their voice, knowledge, skills or networks to encourage others to become involved.
Applicants do not need to be climate experts.
What matters is a willingness to take action and a commitment to making a positive contribution to their community.
How to apply
Applications are being assessed on a rolling basis, meaning interested participants are encouraged to submit their applications early rather than wait until the deadline.
Application deadline: 31 October 2026
Those interested can find further information and submit an application through the European Climate Pact Ambassador page.
