Cyprus’ Ministry of Health has launched a public consultation on a proposed bill aimed at establishing a unified framework for the issuing of health certificates to certain employees, professionals and other individuals.
The proposed legislation, titled the Health Certificates Issuance Law of 2026, would apply to people required to hold a health certificate for purposes including employment, practising a profession or obtaining a professional licence.
According to the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), which has informed its members about the consultation, the bill sets out, among other things, which categories of people will be required to hold a health certificate, the procedure for obtaining one and which doctors will be authorised to issue them.
It also covers the certificate’s period of validity, as well as circumstances relating to the suspension or non-issuance of a certificate.
Interested parties can submit their comments, observations and recommendations on the proposed Health Certificates Issuance Law of 2026 through the government’s electronic public consultation platform, η-Διαβούλευση.
The public consultation will remain open until Tuesday, 15 September 2026.
