The government has denied reports that DISY figures Nicos Tornaritis and Elena Kousiou were approached about joining the Council of Ministers.
Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis confirmed, however, that discussions had taken place with Kousiou over a possible role elsewhere in the government.
No ministerial offer discussed
Speaking after Wednesday’s Council of Ministers meeting, Letymbiotis rejected reports that Tornaritis and Kousiou had been offered ministerial positions, amid speculation over a possible reshuffle by President Nikos Christodoulides.
He clarified that Kousiou had been contacted and that the possibility of her joining the administration had been explored, but not in a ministerial capacity.
According to information, the discussion concerned a commissioner post. Letymbiotis did not disclose the specific position involved.
