The United Nations in Cyprus has expressed its condolences following the loss of life in a ferry accident off the coast of Kyrenia.
In a statement issued on Sunday, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus and Head of UNFICYP Khassim Diagne said he was “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life” following the accident.
“On behalf of the United Nations in Cyprus, I extend my sincere condolences to the Turkish Cypriot authorities and to the families and loved ones of those affected,” Diagne said.
“Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this tragedy and with the rescue teams continuing their efforts to save lives,” he added.
