President Nikos Christodoulides joined a videoconference of the Coalition of the Willing on Monday, held to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, the Cypriot presidency said.
According to a written statement by Presidential Palace official Victoras Papadopoulos, the meeting was co-chaired by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Papadopoulos said Cyprus reaffirmed its support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
"The Republic of Cyprus, as a country that has experienced an illegal invasion of its territory and continues to be under military occupation, reaffirms its firm support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine, within its internationally recognized borders," he said.
He added that peace could only be achieved on the basis of the United Nations Charter and without external imposition.
Papadopoulos also said Cyprus supports coordinated European efforts to help Ukraine prepare for the coming winter.
Separately, the Cyprus Foreign Ministry reiterated its support for Ukraine in a post on X, congratulating the Ukrainian government and people on the country’s 35th anniversary since independence.
