Authorities in the British Bases, in coordination with the Republic of Cyprus, have decided to extend evacuation measures in Akrotiri until next week. The situation will be reassessed on the morning of next Saturday.

Following an assessment of the situation, the British Bases decided that the Akrotiri area will remain evacuated for security reasons. The safety measures will remain in place until next Friday, with a new evaluation scheduled for Saturday morning.

Accommodation for residents at two hotels in Limassol and at the Monastery of Saint George in Erimi will continue.

Schools in the area will also remain closed. According to the Mayor of Kourion, Pantelis Georgiou, the municipality, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, is working to find temporary premises so that students from the affected schools can continue their education without disruption.

The effort is being carried out in consultation with parents of students whose schools have been affected by the extension of the safety measures.
