Cyprus is waking up to patchy low cloud and isolated fog or mist on Monday, with conditions expected to clear into mostly sunny skies across most of the island as the day progresses.
According to the Meteorological Service, scattered cloud developing around midday may bring isolated showers and a possible thunderstorm, mainly over the mountains and in areas west and south of Troodos, later extending to inland areas.
Winds and sea conditions
Winds will initially be variable, soon turning into light sea breezes at force three.
By the afternoon they are expected to shift mainly south-westerly to north-westerly at force three to four.
The sea will remain generally smooth to slight, although conditions may become slightly rough at times in the north, south and west.
Temperatures across the island
Temperatures are expected to reach around 28°C inland.
Along the south-eastern, eastern and northern coasts, temperatures will reach around 24°C, while the south-western and western coasts will see around 23°C.
In the higher mountain areas, temperatures will reach around 17°C.
Showers possible through midweek
On Tuesday, mainly clear skies in the morning are expected to give way to isolated showers and thunderstorms around midday and in the afternoon, mainly over the mountains and across the eastern half of the island. Hail is possible during storm activity.
Cloud will build at intervals on Wednesday and Thursday, with isolated showers or thunderstorms again expected around midday and into the afternoon, mainly over the mountains and inland areas.
Temperatures are expected to remain close to seasonal averages through Thursday.
