1454: Catherine Cornaro is born. She later becomes Queen of Cyprus.

1662: The foundation stone of the Church of Agios Ioannis Pipi is laid in Nicosia by Archbishop Nikiforos, as documented by the dedicatory inscription. Completion is dated between 1662 and 1674.

1949: Antonio Guterres is born. He later serves as Secretary General of the United Nations.

1993: Pantelis Kouros is appointed Deputy Minister to the President in the government of Glafcos Clerides and remains in office until 2003.

1994: Evridiki represents Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with the song “Anthropos Ki Ego.”

2004: Michalis Hatzigiannis performs for Cyprus at the European Union enlargement ceremony in Warsaw, broadcast live across Europe.

2016: The Asian Amur falcon (Falco amurensis) is observed and recorded for the first time in Cyprus by birdwatcher Matt Smith in Agia Varvara, Paphos.
