Cyprus police are investigating suspected arson after four parked vehicles, including two high-end cars owned by an associate of murdered businessman Stavros Demosthenous, were engulfed in flames in Limassol within the space of a few hours.
Police probe suspected arson in Limassol car fires
According to police, the fires broke out late on Wednesday night, 26 November 2025, in a private open-air parking area in Mouttagiaka, Limassol.
At around 11:46 p.m., flames spread through four parked vehicles, quickly destroying them before members of the Fire Service managed to extinguish the blaze. Police say the cars had a value of over €1.5 million. No injuries were reported. The investigation into the exact causes is ongoing, but police believe the fires were set maliciously.
The vehicles belong to a 40-year-old man (two of the cars), a 38-year-old and a 21-year-old.
Luxury models targeted
Information suggests that two of the vehicles are a Tesla and a Lamborghini, both owned by a 40-year-old businessman who is described as a close associate of the late Stavros Demosthenous. The other two vehicles are reported to be a Porsche and a Mercedes.
Assistant Police Director Lefteris Kyriakou noted that a closed-circuit camera captured the moment the fire broke out, adding that it appears the perpetrator was spotted by a private security guard who was in the area. “He tried to approach, but there was an ignition, with the result that the perpetrator fled,” he said.

Police and Fire Service investigators are continuing their investigation of the scene and forensic evidence gathered.
