Targeted preventive police operations continued throughout last night, with an enhanced presence at key points in urban areas. The aim of the operations was to prevent serious criminal activity, protect the public and ensure public order.

As part of these operations, police arrested nine individuals. Specifically, one person was arrested in connection with a domestic violence case; one person for offences committed in flagrante delicto, including causing disturbance, public intoxication and assaulting police officers; one person for offences related to the possession of drugs; three individuals for the offence of illegal residence in the territory of the Republic; and three individuals in connection with outstanding court warrants for unpaid fines.

Drunk drivers

During the night, 458 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 569 occupants were checked. In parallel, 47 inspections of premises were carried out, aimed at preventing and suppressing unlawful behaviour.

As a result of traffic checks, 140 reports were issued for various traffic offences, including 29 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition, 40 traffic-related cases are under investigation. As part of the police procedures, 12 vehicles were impounded.

These operations form part of a broader, ongoing and increasingly reinforced preventive policing plan, involving increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action across all districts, with the objective of preventing crime and strengthening the public’s sense of safety.
