Police have already taken a statement from the woman referred to as ‘Sandy’, who lies at the centre of the public allegations made by journalist Makarios Drousiotis, confirmed police spokesman Vyron Vyronos.

Speaking to Politis, Vyronos said that as part of the investigation, police are taking statements from both suspects and witnesses and, where deemed necessary, are also proceeding with supplementary statements.

On the search warrant executed at the home and law office of Nikos Clerides, who had been presented as “Sandy’s” legal representative, Vyronos clarified that the warrant was issued with court approval, after the relevant legal requirements were found to have been met.

Responding to complaints by Clerides and his lawyer regarding the conduct of police officers during the searches, the police spokesman said all prescribed procedures were followed and that members of the force acted professionally throughout.

The case remains under investigation, with nothing further to announce at this stage, Byronos said, adding that the collection of testimonial material continues. At the same time, police remain in constant communication with Europol.
