Two Arrested Over Series of Burglaries in Famagusta District

The arrests followed a complaint filed by a 37-year-old resident in Protaras, who reported that his home had been broken into, with cash and two pairs of AirPods stolen, with a total value of €900, according to a statement by the Police Communication Branch.

Police said the stolen AirPods emitted a tracking signal that led officers to a specific area in Ayia Napa, where the two suspects were identified and located.

Arrest warrants issued

As part of the investigation, court arrest warrants were obtained for the two suspects, aged 51 and 30, who are allegedly linked to four burglary and theft cases committed in Protaras between April 14 and April 16.

Police said the suspects were located and arrested on Thursday afternoon at Paphos Airport, while they were attempting to leave Cyprus.

Additional cases under investigation

Further police inquiries found that the 51-year-old suspect is also allegedly connected to ten additional night-time burglaries and thefts, which were committed in Paralimni in 2023 and 2025.

The two suspects are expected to appear before the Famagusta District Court today for the issuance of a detention order.

The Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department (CID) continues its investigations.
