Registration for the 28th Marios Agathangelou International Road Race has been extended until Tuesday, 6 October 2026, following strong public interest and high participation demand.
The race, which marked the beginning of the Lemesia festival and has grown into one of Cyprus' longest-running sporting events, will return on Sunday, 11 October 2026, continuing a tradition spanning nearly three decades.
Registrations extended
The Municipality of Limassol is encouraging runners of all ages and abilities to take advantage of the extended registration period and participate in an event that combines sport with community engagement.
Named in memory of athlete and educator Marios Agathangelou, the race has become a fixture on the island’s sporting calendar, attracting hundreds of participants from Cyprus and abroad each year.
Last year's event brought together hundreds of runners, families, children, amateur athletes and professionals along Limassol's seafront, underlining the race's enduring appeal.
Running for a cause
This year's event will also support the Panos Evripidou Foundation and its work to improve the quality of life of premature children and their families.
Organisers said each participation contributes to the foundation's efforts, giving the race an important social dimension alongside its sporting objectives.
Distances for all ages
The event includes races for different age groups and fitness levels:
- 10km race for men and women
- 5km race for men and women, including a corporate race
- 1km children's race for participants up to 15 years old
