The estimated cost of repairing damage from the July 2025 wildfire in Limassol district has reached around €60 million, according to Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou.

In a letter to parliament, sent in response to a question by DISY MP Giorgos Karoullas, Ioannou said the €60 million figure covers the restoration of damage in the affected areas of Limassol. It does not include compensation that will be paid to businesses, agricultural crops, farming equipment and other losses, which fall under the remit of the ministries of Energy, Agriculture and Labour.

The minister clarified that the estimate also includes damage to insured properties as well as to buildings that did not have the necessary permits. The assessment work is still under way, as the recording of new approved applications has not yet been completed.

Up to 5 November 2025, the Interior Ministry had paid out €4,227,961 in compensation.

Ioannou also informed MPs that the total cost of restoring damage from the Arakapas wildfire in 2021 has so far reached €1,725,055. The payment of all compensation related to that fire has not yet been fully completed.
