Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem on Monday reiterated that the group firmly rejects any direct negotiations between Beirut and Israel, warning such a move could push Lebanon into a “cycle of instability.”

“We categorically refuse to negotiate directly with Israel,” Qassem said in a statement broadcast by Hezbollah’s Al-Manar television network. He added that it is the responsibility of the Lebanese government to avoid what he described as a “dangerous mistake” that could destabilise the country.

Qassem also dismissed any such talks outright, saying “these negotiations and their outcome are as if they do not exist and do not concern us in any way.”

He stressed that Hezbollah would continue what it calls its “resistance” to defend Lebanon, adding that the group “will not yield to Israel’s threats.”
