The Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) carried out an aeromedical evacuation of a patient from a commercial vessel to Paphos General Hospital for further hospitalisation on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the JRCC, “at 11:45, the JRCC activated the National Search and Rescue Plan ‘NEARCHOS’, with the aim of conducting an aeromedical evacuation of a patient from a commercial ship sailing in the sea area 90 nautical miles south of Limassol.”

It is noted that “for the execution of the aeromedical evacuation, a helicopter of the 460th Search and Rescue Squadron of the National Guard was deployed, carrying a specialised nurse from the Air Medical Evacuation Unit of the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organisation (OKYpY).”

“The patient was handed over to Paphos General Hospital at 13:50 for further treatment,” the statement concludes.
