Israel and Germany Sign Security Deal on Iran

Berlin referred to the regional threat posed by Iran and its allies, such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.

Germany deeply committed to Israel's security, as it signs relevant agreement.

 

The governments of Israel and Germany signed a security agreement in Jerusalem yesterday, focused on jointly dealing with threats posed by Iran and its allies, according to a statement issued by Prime Minister Netanyahu's office.

'It's a reflection of Germany's deep commitment to the security of the state of Israel', the statement further noted.

The relevant document was signed by Netanyahu and the Interior Minister of Germany Alexander Dobrindt and is described as pertaining to cooperation in combatting the regional threat posed by Iran and its allies, particularly the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, Palestinian Hamas and the Yemeni Houthi movement.

Meanwhile and pertinent to developments in Iran, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, following a meeting with his German counterpart, called on the EU to add the Iranian Revolutionary Guards to a list of terrorist organisations.

'This has been the long standing position of Germany and in the current circumstances, the significance of this matter is clear to all', he added.
