Cuba is a free, independent and sovereign nation and 'we will never be told what to do', President Miguel Diaz-Canel declared on X, after Donald Trump issued a stern warning that Havana should sign a deal with Washington the soonest possible, otherwise it won't be receiving a drop of oil from Venezuela.
The US President disclosed no other details about the content of the proposed agreement.
'My country is not attacking. It has been bearing attacks from the US for the past 66 years and yet it has never threatened', Diaz noted, vowing that Cuba was ready to defend its sovereign territory 'to the last drop of blood'.
After Trump said that US oil companies will be going into Venezuela to 'fix the infrastructure' and then decide which countries Caracas would be selling to, he warned yesterday that Cuba would not be receiving any more funding or oil from Venezuela-'zero', as he put it- until it signed a relevant deal with Washington.
'Before it's too late', the US President added on Truth Social.
He further noted that Cuba has been surviving for too long on the massive quantities of oil and money that Maduro's Venezuela was sending.
