Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman is expected to provide details on Monday about what took place before and during his contacts in New York, including the circumstances surrounding a proposed trilateral meeting that ultimately did not take place.
Erhürman announced a press conference for 11am, with the discussion expected to focus on the proposed meeting involving himself, President Nikos Christodoulides and the UN Secretary-General.
Erhürman poses questions over New York contacts
In a social media post on Monday morning, Erhürman set out the questions he intends to address during the press conference.
“What happened and what did not happen before and during New York? Was the trilateral meeting on the agenda? Why did it not take place? Where are we now?” he wrote.
Erhürman said he would discuss the issues in detail and answer journalists’ questions with “full transparency”.
The press conference will be broadcast live on the website of the Turkish Cypriot leader’s office, according to Erhürman.
