President Nikos Christodoulides is departing at 13:55 on the first direct Air Astana flight from Larnaca International Airport to the capital of Kazakhstan, in what marks the first official visit by a Cypriot president to the country.
The president will be officially received this evening at 21:15 local time.
His programme of contacts on Wednesday includes a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan and the signing of memoranda of understanding in the fields of higher education, research, culture, sport, information and communication technologies, cybersecurity and e‑governance.
A memorandum of understanding between the Chambers of Commerce of Cyprus and Kazakhstan is also expected to be signed.
During the visit, President Christodoulides will inaugurate the offices of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Astana.
The delegation accompanying the president includes Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister Michalis Damianos, Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki, Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou, and Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou.
