Four Arrested in Larnaca Criminal Organisation Probe

Four people, including two businessmen and a remand prisoner, were arrested in a coordinated police operation linked to alleged offences committed between 2021 and 2024.

 

Police arrested four people on Wednesday during an operation in the districts of Larnaca and Nicosia, as part of an investigation into a series of serious criminal offences allegedly committed in Larnaca over a three-year period.

According to police, those arrested are a 44-year-old businessman from Larnaca, a 42-year-old businessman from Nicosia, a 49-year-old remand prisoner currently held at the Central Prisons, and a 45-year-old woman.

The case under investigation includes suspected participation in a criminal organisation, conspiracy to commit a felony and misdemeanour, abduction or unlawful deprivation of liberty, obtaining goods and documents by false pretences, extortion, threats, illegal possession and transport of a firearm and explosives, and money laundering.

Following the arrests, police carried out searches at premises connected to the case and collected various items as evidence.

The four suspects are expected to appear before Larnaca District Court on Thursday, where police will seek remand orders.
