Police Await Victim’s Statement in Limassol Shooting

The 46-year-old woman has emerged from sedation and remains in serious condition in intensive care, while investigators are awaiting medical clearance to take her statement.

The 46-year-old woman who was the victim of an attempted murder by her 55-year-old husband in Limassol on 30 June has regained consciousness, with police investigators now waiting to obtain a statement from her.

According to police sources, the woman has emerged from sedation and remains in a serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Nicosia General Hospital, while CID Limassol investigators continue their probe into the family tragedy.

Investigators are awaiting approval from her treating doctors before taking a statement from the victim, which is considered crucial to completing the case file and clarifying key questions surrounding the incident.

The woman's 55-year-old husband, a police officer, reportedly reported for duty shortly after 6am on 30 June and, after being issued his service weapon, told colleagues he would leave briefly for an errand and return within five minutes.

He subsequently met his wife outside Agios Spyridonas Lyceum on Ilision Street, where the pair are believed to have become involved in a heated argument.

A member of the public intervened after noticing the dispute, which was taking place inside the 46-year-old's vehicle. According to witness testimony, the 55-year-old ordered the bystander to leave and threatened him with his service weapon.

He then allegedly turned the weapon on his wife and shot her before shooting himself and taking his own life.
