The municipality is urging residents to exercise extreme caution as soaring temperatures increase the risk of wildfires in the area.

The Polis Chrysochous Municipality has appealed to residents to remain vigilant over the coming days due to high temperatures that have significantly increased the risk of wildfires.

In a statement, the municipality urged the public to avoid any actions that could spark a fire, including the use of tools or equipment that produce sparks, as well as the burning of dry grass, branches or other vegetation.

Residents are also being asked to stay alert and, if they notice suspicious activity on rural roads or in forested areas, to record vehicle registration numbers and immediately inform the police on 26806280 or contact the municipality.

The municipality further reminded the public that any sighting of smoke or fire should be reported immediately to the Fire Service on 112, the Department of Forests on 1407, or the municipality.

"The protection of human life, property and our natural environment is everyone's responsibility," the statement said.

Local authorities thanked residents for their cooperation and understanding in the collective effort to prevent and combat wildfires.
