Two suspects have been referred to the Famagusta Permanent Assize Court in connection with an alleged attempted contract killing, with the first hearing scheduled for 18 November.
A decision on their continued detention has been reserved until Thursday. Until then, the two suspects will remain in custody.
The case follows the arrest of three people by Cyprus Police in cooperation with Danish authorities and Europol as part of an investigation into an alleged conspiracy to commit murder and participation in a criminal organisation.
Arrests
According to police, information received through Europol concerning planned contract killings in Cyprus prompted police to immediately activate an operational plan in cooperation with a team from the Danish Police.
A coordinated investigation and assessment of information and evidence subsequently led to the issuing of court warrants and an operation in the Larnaca and Famagusta districts, during which three suspects were arrested.
The investigation is continuing by a Special Investigation Team at Police Headquarters, in cooperation with the relevant European authorities.
