The municipalities of Limassol, Amathounta and Polemidia presented key directions for sustainable mobility and the future of the wider Limassol area at an open event held on Sunday, 20 September, as part of European Mobility Week.
According to a statement by the Limassol Municipality, the event presented a vision for Limassol in the coming decades. Proposals were also put forward linking sustainable mobility with spatial and urban planning, land use, public transport and public space.
The event was held as part of the cooperation between the three municipalities, the University of Cyprus and Frederick University.
The initiative aims to gradually develop a common plan for a more functional, accessible, sustainable and people-centred metropolitan Limassol, beyond the administrative boundaries of the individual municipalities.
Through cooperation and coordination among all the bodies involved, the aim is to create a coherent development framework that responds to citizens’ modern needs and enhances quality of life, safety and sustainability across the wider urban area of Limassol.
