A 63-year-old British man has died after becoming unwell while diving in the Pernera area of Ayia Napa, despite efforts by lifeguards and doctors to save him.
The incident occurred at around 3.15pm on Saturday, while the 63-year-old was diving in the area.
Diver became unwell in the water
During the dive, the man began to feel unwell and was taken to a floating platform.
The diving instructor accompanying him and lifeguards provided first aid, while an ambulance was called to the scene.
The 63-year-old was subsequently taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where he died despite efforts by doctors.
Police investigating
The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by Ayia Napa Police Station.
