Initial examinations indicate that the victim sustained multiple injuries to the head, both at the front and back, caused by a blunt object. Investigators believe the murder was committed at the confessed killer’s home and that he transported the body to the location in his vehicle. The transfer is believed to have taken place during the first days following the crime.

The 43-year-old was rearrested on suspicion of premeditated murder and will appear before a court again on Sunday morning.

It is recalled that earlier, the 43-year-old suspect, who is being held under a six-day detention order, admitted responsibility for the murder during questioning by investigators. According to an official police statement, the suspect led officers to a specific location where, he claimed, he had disposed of the missing woman’s body in a well.

Olga Vasilieva’s disappearance was reported to police on 28 October, while she had been missing since 23 October. Authorities were initially investigating a case of abduction with intent to commit premeditated murder. The 43-year-old was arrested at Larnaca Airport while attempting to leave Cyprus.

Investigations are continuing in order to fully solve the case and establish all the circumstances under which the femicide was committed.
