The Cyprus Consumers Association identified price increases in 805 products listed on the e-Kalathi platform during the period 16-31 July 2026, with an average increase of 10.6%.
At the same time, the association said 908 products recorded price reductions, with an average decrease of 11.9%.
According to a statement issued by the association, the largest increases were observed in the following categories:
- Frozen pasta products and pizzas: 7.6%
- Fruit juices: 6.6%
- Chocolates and pasta: 6.3%
Large price discrepancies
According to the association, the majority of supermarkets participating in e-Kalathi show price differences so significant that they do not appear to reflect strong competition.
A survey conducted on 31 July 2026 covering 177 common products across 12 supermarkets found a difference of 15.8% in their average total cost.
Meanwhile, the gap among the five supermarkets offering the largest number of products, based on a basket of 327 common products listed on e-Kalathi, was 7.6%.
The association said these disparities indicate that significant price variations continue to exist between retailers.
