Andreas Yiasemides, Chief Executive Officer of PwC Cyprus, has been appointed Chair of the Council of the University of Cyprus for a three-year term.
The appointment recognises Yiasemides’ longstanding contribution to Cyprus and its economy, while placing him at the helm of the governing body of one of the country’s leading institutions in education, research and innovation.
Commitment to the university’s progress
Commenting on his appointment, Yiasemides said:
“It is a great honour to have been appointed by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus as Chair of the Council of the University of Cyprus, an appointment subsequently ratified by the University Senate.
“I assume this responsibility with humility, dedication and a genuine commitment to contributing to the university’s continued progress. Higher education plays a decisive role in shaping our country’s future, and I look forward to working with the other members of the Council, the Rector, the Senate and the wider university community for the benefit of students and society.”

During his three-year term, Yiasemides will work with the leadership of the University of Cyprus to support the institution’s further development and the implementation of its strategic priorities.
