A 28-year-old man has been remanded in custody following a police operation targeting burglaries and thefts in the Paphos district. Officers allegedly found suspected burglary tools on the man and inside his vehicle, along with cash and a quantity of drugs.
Arrest during police operation
The operation was carried out during the early hours of Thursday, 6 August, by members of the Paphos Police Division, who had placed a specific area under surveillance.
Officers reportedly saw the man acting suspiciously and entering the yards of several homes.
According to police, he attempted to flee when he noticed the officers, but was intercepted and arrested for the alleged offence of unlawful entry.
A search of the suspect allegedly uncovered burglary tools. Police subsequently searched his vehicle, where they reportedly found and seized additional tools, an amount of cash and a quantity of drugs.
Earlier burglary cases investigated
Police are also investigating whether the 28-year-old was involved in the burglary of a home and theft committed in the Paphos district on 18 November 2025.
His possible involvement in an attempted burglary in the district on 21 May 2026 is also under investigation.
The suspect appeared before Paphos District Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody for five days.
Investigations are continuing by Peyia Police Station.
