Isolated rain and thunderstorms expected over the weekend, with temperatures remaining close to seasonal averages.

Unstable weather conditions are set to affect Cyprus over the next few days, with isolated showers and thunderstorms expected, mainly in inland and mountainous areas.

A weak low-pressure system combined with an unstable air mass is currently influencing the region. This afternoon, most areas will remain mostly clear, but developing clouds may bring isolated rain or thunderstorms, particularly around the Troodos mountains and surrounding areas. Hail is also possible during storms. Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, reaching up to strong levels along windward coasts, while the sea will be slight to a little rough.

Tonight, the weather will stay largely clear, although patches of low cloud are expected. Towards dawn, areas of mist and fog may form, mainly in the east and inland. Temperatures will drop to around 20°C inland and along the coast, and to 16°C in higher mountainous areas.

On Saturday, after morning cloud and fog clear, sunny conditions will prevail, but clouds developing later in the day may again bring isolated showers or thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains and inland, with a chance of hail. Temperatures will rise to around 32°C inland, 27°C on the west coast, 29°C elsewhere along the coast and 24°C in the mountains.

Similar conditions are expected on Sunday, with increasing clouds leading to scattered showers and isolated storms, mainly inland and in mountainous regions.

On Monday, the day will begin mostly clear, but cloud build-up later may lead to isolated rain and thunderstorms, while on Tuesday conditions will improve, with mostly clear skies and only a slight chance of rain in mountainous areas.

Temperatures are expected to remain close to average seasonal levels through Tuesday.
