Cyprus remains under the influence of a seasonal low-pressure system and a warm air mass, with temperatures expected to reach 40°C inland today and remain elevated at least until Thursday.
The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for extreme maximum temperatures, valid from 2pm to 4.30pm.

Conditions will remain mostly sunny throughout the day.
Winds will initially be north-westerly to north-easterly, and locally south-easterly to south-westerly, light at around 3 Beaufort. Later, they will become mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and occasionally strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort in windward areas.
The sea will be slight to a little rough.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach:
- 40°C inland
- 33°C on the west coast
- 36°C on other coastal areas
- 30°C in the higher mountains
Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear.
Winds will be south-westerly to north-westerly and locally north-easterly, generally light at 3 Beaufort, occasionally increasing to 3 to 4 Beaufort.
The sea will be calm to slight.
Minimum temperatures are expected to fall to:
- 27°C inland
- 25°C along the coast
- 19°C in the higher mountains
Outlook
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are expected to remain mostly sunny.
Temperatures will stay at roughly the same levels, continuing to run slightly above the seasonal average for this time of year.
