Beachgoers along Limassol’s coast were caught out by a sudden burst of strong wind and rain on Friday afternoon.
Footage obtained by Politis.com.cy shows the weather changing within minutes, with people quickly gathering their belongings and leaving the beach.

Storms possible across Cyprus
A seasonal low-pressure system and an unstable air mass are affecting Cyprus.
Most areas will remain mainly clear on Friday afternoon, although cloud developing over the mountains and possibly inland and in the east is expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms. Hail cannot be ruled out during a storm.
Winds will blow mainly from the south-west to north-west at force 3 to 4, temporarily reaching force 4 to 5 along the southern and eastern coasts. The sea will generally be slight.
Friday night and Saturday forecast
Periods of increased cloud are expected overnight, while mist or fog may form locally towards dawn, mainly in eastern areas.
Winds will ease to force 3, while the sea will remain slight in the west and calm to slight elsewhere. Temperatures will fall to around 23°C inland, 24°C along the coast and 20°C in the higher mountains.
More cloud is forecast for Saturday, with isolated showers and thunderstorms developing after midday, mainly over the mountains and inland, and possibly in the east. Hail cannot be ruled out.
Temperatures will reach around 38°C inland, 30°C on the western coast, 33°C along the remaining coasts and 27°C in the higher mountains.
Unsettled weather through Tuesday
Local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected after midday on Sunday, mainly over the mountains and inland, with hail likely during storms.
Monday will be partly cloudy, with isolated morning showers possible in western areas. Further rain and thunderstorms are forecast after midday, mainly over the mountains and across the eastern half of Cyprus.
Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday afternoon, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms mainly over the mountains and inland.
Temperatures will fall slightly on Sunday and remain at similar levels through Tuesday, slightly below the seasonal average.
