Temperatures Climb Back Towards 40°C

Dry and mostly sunny conditions are returning, with temperatures rising further on Friday and remaining above seasonal averages.

A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, while a warm air mass is expected to arrive from tomorrow.

Today's weather

Conditions will be mostly clear, although locally increased cloud cover is expected during the afternoon, particularly over mountainous areas.

Winds will initially be light and variable at 3 Beaufort, becoming mainly southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort later in the day. Along the southwest coast, winds may temporarily strengthen to 4 to 5 Beaufort.

The sea will be slight.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach:

  • 38°C inland
  • 32°C on the west and north coasts
  • 35°C on the south and east coasts
  • 29°C in the higher mountains

Tonight

The weather will remain mostly clear, although periods of low cloud may develop in some coastal areas.

Winds will initially be westerly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, later becoming mainly downslope and light at 3 Beaufort.

The sea will be calm to slight.

Minimum temperatures will fall to around:

  • 24°C inland
  • 24°C on the south and east coasts
  • 23°C on the remaining coasts
  • 20°C in the higher mountains

Outlook

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are expected to remain mostly clear, with some locally increased cloud developing during the afternoons, especially over mountainous areas.

Temperatures will rise on Friday to above seasonal averages, before edging slightly lower by Sunday.
