Weak low pressure is affecting Cyprus, bringing isolated showers and thunderstorms to parts of the island on Wednesday and Thursday before conditions improve towards the end of the week.
Wednesday will begin mostly clear, although temporarily increased cloud is expected mainly along the western coast. During the afternoon, local cloud development could bring isolated rain or a brief thunderstorm over the mountains and eastern half of the island.
Temperatures reach 34°C inland
Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest, initially light at 3 Beaufort and later reaching 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Along parts of the southern coast, winds could strengthen to 4 to 5 Beaufort during the afternoon. The sea will be slight.
Temperatures are forecast to reach around:
- 34°C inland
- 30°C on the west coast
- 32°C on other coastal areas
- 24°C in the higher mountains
Mainly clear overnight
Conditions will gradually become mostly clear on Wednesday night, although increased cloud is expected mainly in western and northern areas.
Winds will be predominantly westerly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while the sea will remain slight.
Temperatures will fall to around 19°C inland, 21°C along the coast and 14°C in the higher mountains.
More rain possible on Thursday
On Thursday, increased cloud developing after midday is expected to bring isolated showers or thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains and eastern half of Cyprus.
Friday will be mostly clear, while increased high cloud is forecast for Saturday.
Temperatures will gradually fall slightly over the coming days, settling close to seasonal averages.
