An unstable air mass continues to affect Cyprus, with periods of increased cloud cover expected to produce isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly around midday and during the early afternoon.
According to the Department of Meteorology, the main areas likely to be affected are the mountains, inland regions and northern parts of the island.
Monday forecast
Cloud cover will increase intermittently throughout the day, with localised rainfall and isolated thunderstorms possible in affected areas.
Winds will initially be mainly northwesterly at around 3 Beaufort, later becoming southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
The sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures are expected to reach:
- 29C inland
- 27C along the coasts
- 18C in the higher mountains
Tonight
Periods of increased cloud are expected overnight, with a chance of isolated showers, mainly along the northwestern coast.
Winds will be mainly northwesterly to northeasterly at 3 Beaufort, while the sea will remain calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures are forecast to fall to:
- 14C inland
- 17C along the coast
- 8C in the higher mountains
Outlook for the week
On Tuesday and Wednesday, increased cloud cover is expected at intervals, with local showers or isolated thunderstorms developing during the afternoon, mainly over mountainous and inland areas.
By Thursday, weather conditions are expected to improve, although periods of locally increased cloud cover will persist.
Temperatures are expected to remain slightly below seasonal averages on Tuesday, before rising gradually on Wednesday and Thursday.
