UNSC to Deliberate UNFICYP and Good Offices Mission Reports on July 16

Khassim Diagne, the UNSG's special representative in Cyprus will brief Security Council members.

The reports of UN Secretary-General António Guterres on his Good Offices mission in Cyprus and on the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) are expected to be submitted in early July 2026, ahead of the UN Security Council’s closed consultations scheduled for the afternoon of 16 July, according to information obtained by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

In the meantime, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus, Khassim Diagne, is expected to brief Security Council members during consultations on UNFICYP, with discussions focusing on the Secretary-General’s report.

The Cyprus issue will be examined during a month featuring an extensive programme of work for the Security Council. The agenda also includes meetings on Sudan, the Women, Peace and Security agenda, the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Colombia, Haiti, the Middle East, Syria, the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), and a range of other issues.
