Cyprus And Greek Parliaments Seek Closer Cooperation

Parliamentary diplomacy and developments on the Cyprus problem were discussed during a meeting between Annita Demetriou and Greek Ambassador Constantinos Kollias.

 

Developments on the Cyprus problem and ways to further strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of Cyprus and Greece were discussed on Thursday during a meeting between House President Annita Demetriou and the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus, Constantinos Kollias.

According to an announcement by the House of Representatives, Kollias congratulated Demetriou on her re-election as President of the House.

Demetriou referred to her recent official visit to Athens, describing it as fully successful. She underlined that Greece remains the strongest supporter and ally of the Republic of Cyprus in safeguarding national interests and addressing common challenges.

The House President briefed the Greek Ambassador on the outcome of her visit to the Greek capital. The two also exchanged views on current developments regarding the Cyprus problem.

The meeting also covered the results of Demetriou’s talks with the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, with a focus on practical ways to further strengthen exchanges and coordination between the two parliaments.

According to the announcement, both sides highlighted the added value of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing the strategic objectives of Cyprus and Greece.
