Government says Maria Panayiotou will step down after accepting an appointment in the education sector.

The government has confirmed that Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou will leave her post in an upcoming cabinet reshuffle after accepting an appointment in the education sector.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou told Omega television: “What is certain, and what is before us, is that the Minister of Agriculture will have to be replaced because she has accepted an appointment in education.”

Asked about any further changes being considered by President Nikos Christodoulides as part of the reshuffle, Antoniou said he was unable to comment.

“I cannot say anything because I do not know myself,” he said.

The government has not yet announced who will succeed Panayiotou or when the reshuffle will take effect.
