Kuwait's air-defence systems were placed on full alert overnight as authorities responded to missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Armed Forces General Staff said air-defence systems were actively intercepting hostile missiles and drones.
The military also clarified that any explosions heard by residents were the result of interception operations carried out by air-defence systems.
Authorities urged the public to follow all safety and security instructions issued by the relevant agencies.
Iran confirms targeting US bases
Iranian state television stated that Tehran was targeting US military bases in Kuwait in what it described as a response to:
"America's crimes against the Iranian people."
The attacks come after extensive US strikes on targets across Iran earlier this week.

Wider regional escalation
According to reports, Iran has targeted US facilities in:
- Kuwait
- Jordan
- United Arab Emirates
- Bahrain
- Iraq's Kurdistan Region
The strikes form part of Tehran's response to the latest round of American military operations against targets inside the Islamic Republic.
At the time of reporting, Kuwaiti authorities had not announced any casualties or damage resulting from the attacks.
