President Nikos Christodoulides will travel to Amman on Wednesday morning to attend the fifth Cyprus-Greece-Jordan Trilateral Summit, the Government Spokesman said in a written statement.
The summit will take place at midday with the participation of Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
During his visit, Christodoulides will hold a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II and the Crown Prince of Jordan. Talks are expected to focus on strengthening Cyprus-Jordan relations, regional coordination and developments in the wider region.
The trilateral meeting will review the implementation of cooperation between Cyprus, Greece and Jordan in areas discussed at previous summits. The leaders will also address relations between the European Union and Jordan, the further strengthening of regional cooperation and current regional developments.
According to the statement, the discussion on EU-Jordan relations has taken on added importance following the recent informal leaders’ summit hosted in Cyprus, which included the participation of regional leaders, among them Jordan.
The Government Spokesman said that, in a fluid geopolitical environment, deepening the EU’s relations with regional states considered pillars of stability, such as Jordan, is crucial for addressing shared challenges, promoting de-escalation and creating conditions for lasting peace and security.
The statement also underlined that the trilateral summit reflects Cyprus’ strategic decision to invest in regional cooperation formats with substance, continuity and political value. Through such mechanisms, Cyprus aims to strengthen its role as a reliable EU interlocutor with the wider region and as a country contributing to stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
The President will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Government Spokesman Constantinos Letymbiotis, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis and other officials.
