The second week of December will witness the first trilateral between President Christodoulides and the Turkish Cypriot leader with the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy Maria Angela Holguin Cuéllar, as she launches a sounding out mission that looks towards a five-party informal conference scheduled for next year, in the hope of kickstarting Cyprus settlement negotiations.
It will be a busy afternoon for Nicos Christodoulides and Tufan Erhurman on December 11, as they are scheduled to jointly visit the Committee on Missing Persons at 15.00, followed, an hour later, by a meeting at the UN Good Offices under the facilitation of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General.
According to a UN press release, both leaders will then proceed to an informal reception hosted by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) Khassim Diagne.
In remarks yesterday, Christodoulides reiterated his readiness to resume talks where they left off at Cran Montana 'even tomorrow', disclosing that German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz - who held talks with the President last week - will be conveying 'messages' to Tayip Erdogan.
