The Cyprus-Israel intergovernmental agreement on the management of the “Aphrodite-Isa” gas field appears to be in its final stages, according to sources who spoke to CNA. They noted that a delegation from Israel is expected to arrive in Cyprus for intensive negotiations in January.
Specifically, the sources said that the final draft, incorporating comments from the Israeli side, has been sent to Cyprus as agreed during the last meeting in Israel in December.
“With the aim of achieving substantial progress in the process, a delegation from Israel is expected to arrive in Cyprus in January for intensive negotiations. This demonstrates that we are now at the final stage of forming the intergovernmental agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and Israel for the management of the ‘Aphrodite-Isa’ gas field, a strategically important deal,” the sources added.
