The Department of Road Transport (DRT) has issued a warning about dangerous vehicles, based on information received from the Consumer Protection Service during weeks 49, 50, 51 and 52 of 2025 and week 1 of 2026. The vehicles have also been listed on the EU’s Safety Gate rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products.

The DRT warns that the vehicles on the list pose risks of injury, electric shock, fire, and environmental hazards. The list includes passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, electric bicycles, electric scooters, buses, professional vehicles, and motorcycles.

More details on the dangerous products can be found on the Safety Gate website at https://ec.europa.eu/safety-gate-alerts/screen/search, using the alert number assigned to each product.

The Department calls on manufacturers, representatives, distributors, importers, and sellers who may have supplied or are supplying such products in Cyprus to inform the DRT. These economic operators are required to take all necessary measures to recall the products in accordance with relevant legislation.

Consumers who own any of the listed vehicles or motorcycles are advised to contact the manufacturer, representative, or distributor for instructions. Where appropriate, they should stop using the vehicles or components and return them to the point of purchase, informing the seller.

If manufacturers, representatives, distributors, importers, or sellers fail to comply, consumers are encouraged to submit a written complaint to the Consumer Protection Service via www.consumer.gov.cy.

For further information, consumers can contact the Department of Road Transport or email recalls@rtd.mcw.gov.cy.
