In the President of the Republic’s address to the European Parliament, there was no reference to the Turkish Cypriot community or to reconciliation. However, well-informed sources in Strasbourg also referred to certain developments regarding the Cyprus problem.

The government has prepared a package of unilateral measures to support Turkish Cypriots, focusing on economic and health matters, which will be announced at a later stage.

In addition, before the end of the month, the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín, is expected to visit Cyprus, following her contacts in Washington, at the UN headquarters in Geneva, and in Brussels. According to the same sources, the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, has requested that a joint meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader also take place during her visit.
